Outer Limits 4x4 Board

Does any1 have a manual, or some info on the fm620 uhf, I have just got it and dont have any info or know how to set it up to the way i want it

Use Google, find some Ham Radio forums, find some communication forums, and even some philips forums maybe even yahoogroups is a place to look for all of this.

You didnt include ICOM, which would be hard to pass up...

theres no icom or kenwood or motorolla or tait etc on this list all these brands easly kick whats listed already

Icom IC400 PRO in my ride. The old Phillips 320 620 and 650 are shlt. Even a $100 second hand Uniden Sundowner would be better.

Are ICOM worth the extra bucks over something like GME? Is the quality worth it? Thinking of getting their handheld 5W unit, just not sure if its worth the premium over someone cheaper like GME.

4wd monthly did a test not long ago, check that out. I would go GME from that list as the others say phillips is crap and our uniden's suck.

the IC40s handhelds are bulletproof!, the GME equivalent is far from it, and lets not talk about the Uniden.

We have 7 IC40s at work (and 2 F60s, these are awesome) some are 8 years old, used by kids, dropped, stood on, full of dirt... and still going strong.


just don't get them wet, they hate water, really, really hate water (hence why we are moving across to F60s they are waterproof and will actually work 1m underwater

The Icoms are a commercial (and milspec) radio that has been 'dumbed down' for public use!

the ic40's are a killer radio and well worth the $$

Yeh, I hear if you can get an electonic eng or a switched on sparky they can hot em up back to the same speck as the mil/police ones etc. Never had any first hand experience with them though, but it looks like the brand to go for.

they are rated to milspec there is nothing turned off etc, the mil spec ratings cover things like the case dust proof ness etc etc

I thought you could only recieve extra channels with the civie spec ones where as you can send on the upper spec ones. Oh well, looks like I've been bullsh*ted to again.

whereas if you want a really good handheld UHF radio you could always get an ALINCO DJ-V5E that will transmit from 87.5MHz - 439.995MHz and has much better receive sensitivity and a mass more functions that you can play with

with the good programming software (dealer software) you can add extra tx/rx channels but thats not like a secret function or anything, and the freely avail software does rec only

so unless you wanna do some mods to the radio and then you get problems with channel hold etc
we have made similar mods to freinds yaesu and you end up with shit quality tx/rx on the the std uhf radio system

The dealer software allows you to program any number of the 20 extra channels, as either Rx only or Tx/Rx.

If you can get hold of the dealer software for the Pro600 incar, then there are more options (such as boosting to 25 watts)

Of course doing this or having the dealer software is illegal

You are absolutely correct about the frequencies.I stupidly typed what was in the handbook and not what the radio has installed.they actually run from 76.100MHz - 99.999MHz and the reception on UHF chicken band is better than my IC40 or my Sawtron 990 or 999.It also still works just as well on 70cm and on 2mtrs and receives the FM broadcast stations better than the radio in the truck !
