Okay guys here goes i am looking for a GQ SWB for around the $9000-$10000 mark.

The question is what would and Should i expect for that type of money, once i work out this sort of stuff i will move the post to wanted.

The other thing is what should i watch out for.

Do i buy a stock and do all the work myself
Do i buy modded 4by and hope it hasn't been thrashed

Buy stock, if you buy modded you don't know the quality of the mods.

Do a search for 'black maverick' on the trading post site.

There's currently a nice shorty just listed in Cheltenham for $8500.

Basically it will be a club truck with the odd hard trips thrown in for good measure.

Preferaby looking at something with 3" lift running 33's rear locked and winch.

I think i am pushing it though for that price range.

Well are u after Deisel Of pertol? or Duel fuel.....

I picked up my Shorty GQ for $5000 and its got full service history, 10 months rego, Duel Fuel with LPG and Petrl both workinng, rear factory locker, auto areal, swaybar disconnect etc etc
And i reckon there is a total of about $300 that im going to have to spend in total fixing it up then ill mod it to wat i want.

For $10 000 u should be able to get something that needs no work at all and be very good, a diesel would in in the range here to.
You wont get a good diesel SWB for wat i paid.

Mines Duelfuel, and its running on LPG 98% of the time, and i love it. its quite economical ( at least compared to the MQ ) and its got alot of sting.

Duel fuel models come up very very often, half of the ones u see will be duel fuel because straight petrol ones are so expensive on the GO JOOS :?

Ull get a top of the line Duel Fuel TB42 for that money

I paid $8500 for my shorty, never been on gas.

Current economy is approx 22L/100klm and I use a lot of right foot.

Gas is for BBQ's :finger:

200,000 klms in perfect condition for its age, exterior straight, interior no rips and neat. Had rust in rear windows, they all do.

No neither has my green ute Cris

Basicly what the guy would mean is he has never taken it off road himself and it has done very little offroad. If he says that it has NEVER BEEN OFFROAD IN IT'S 14 or 15 odd years then he is full of shit. It's like him saying he has NEVER had a wank :? :?

just an idea, if you cant find exactly what your looking for in melborne, maybe you could spread your search to Sydney and see what we have to offer, we get some pretty good trucks for some good prices.

Ill second that. You could pick one up here for a coupla grand less, and then come and get it which will only cost ya a coupla hundred in fuel so ull end up ontop a long way.
Good luck.
