Blue Smoke/Performance

Stock 1.3L
After using engine braking, if I give it a quick squirt on the accelerator. PUFF a big blue cloud.
During normal driving even with a good boot of the right foot it doesn't blow.
Has anybody had this issue?
It does use a little oil but excessive amounts
Is it worn valves guides/seats, stuffed rings or nothing that unusual for 180000K??
Final question. I have massive 215/75 bfg muds with std gearing. Should the car be able to 100kmh+??

Yes it should sit on 100 easy.

mine too, tho its improved now I have tightened the loose spark plugz
Its usually valve stem seals or the valve guides.
performance lack could be stuffed rings, but could also be oiled up spark plugs or normal tune up issues...christover

you could try a heavier grade oil for older motors

Tell me about it, I'd rather be in front of you than behind you breathing that blue air but then I wouldn't of been there to pull you back out the other night

it's not too hard to check (or change) your stem seals, give it a go.

No, the strap was just put on my hook so no shackle needed. What's the capacity of your new fuel tank now?

I took it for a spin early this morning and on the flat I can get her up to around 120. I don't think that she would go much more unless the road was very long.
Put a hill or head wind in front of her and watch the speed dissappear.

I have been told the zook bore go out of round and guessing that would stuff the rings after that.
cheers

sounds like its working fine. check the specs on your car top speed is only meant to me 110. they are a very small engine for a not so aerodynamic car.

I have a 1985 1.3L that has done 379 000 and is happy to sit on 110 on the expressway. I think that it must have had a rebuild at some time.
Has run better since I started using Penrite HPR30

Last weekend was up at Toolangi and continuous blu smoke for about 30 sec after a long steep downhill. After that on the flat no smoke.
I had a look at the FSM and spoke to Suziworld. Both talk about the PCV valve.
Pulled it apart this arvo and the hoses and valve was totally blocked by oil gunk/carbon deposits. Cleaned it out and freed up the check valve. There was no way it was working before. Will take it for spin tomorrow to see if it has fixed/lessened the problem. If it works it is an easy fix. If it doesn't I keep looking and saving

Took it for a spin and couldn't get it to smoke (not that you can find seriously steep hills in the city)
I have also added Nulon Stop leak and and been offroad with no smoke.
The question is which fixed it???
It had looked like a terminal problem the other week and now I v.happy.

your piston rings are on there way out and probably the rest of the motor to, valve guides wont make it smoke. if valve stem seals are shit it will put out a puff of blue smoke when you start the engine.
It will put out blue smoke when you take off from standing still and when you drive without accelarating like you said.
i wouldnt worry about it unless it smokes all the time or if it starts using heaps of oil.
Oldgold how many valve stems seals have you changed??
(there alot fucking harder than you think, and theres 5 different ways to put them on)

Mine sorta did that aswell when the engine was underload ie a hill it started running on 3 cylinders we thought it was a head gasket when we pulled the plugs off one at a time to see if the idle changed it pointed to a head gasket so we then put a compression tester on them they all come up sweet. i then replaced the dizzzy cap and the spark plugs and leads and that has fixed it
