GQ breathers (again)

I've had a look through the old posts, but they dont quite cover the info I require.

I'm replacing the diff and gearbox breathers this weekend and doing the fuel filter mounted on the fire wall trick.

What should I use as a replacement for the breathers? I've been told to use clear tubing as its cheap and you can see any crap building up inside, would this be ok?

Also, my gearbox breather connects to metal tubing that runs along the chassis rail, and into the engine bay. Should I do away with the metal tubing and just run rubber?

I've also heard that I would be better off with an aftermarket set up as the factory one doesnt allow the diffs to breathe as well as they are quite restrictive. Any comments?

Thanks in advance,
Dave

Keep the steel bits and pull the end out of the guard on the left hand side in the engine bay and add your fuel filter to it. Clear hose from bunnings will do the trick champ. Nissan pretty much got it right the first time so leave it as original.

OE lines OK (not restrictive) not like they are flowing any qty?

The problems are
1. rear diff need removing from the crossmember and extending. Just use New rubber fuel line from diff to whereever you put filter (mines up in rear quarter panel next to flow thru air vent.
2. Gearbox/xfer case has a rubber pipe Under exhaust.
Remove this section of steel pipe from box and use rubber Over exh and up chassis rail picking up steel pipe again. (rubber pipe under exh gets ripped off by debris and as it is lower also fills with oil and prevents breathing action.
