okay, im doing a cooling system check, radiator out for full clean out, block flush, notice that the plastic fan has a few cracks on it,

is it better to replace with a factory plastic style item, or just a replacement metal item

any help appreciated,

I got mine from Sandy Bowman at Aus 4WD in vic. All I can say is good fan and a hell of alot cheaper than genuine!

Stick with aftermarket plastic as it seems to be a better qulity plastic than original.

What about a big chunky electric fan? I notice when my clutch fan kicks in it puts heaps of drag on the motor.

I know its a long way...

Gold coast 4wd wreckers.... they do freight.. and they do have aftermarket fans there which do the job.

Any reason why you can't just dump the engine fan and run something like twin AU Falcon thermo fans? Surely better cooling and option to flick it off when hitting the water?

Went through the same thing not long ago, I also had to replace the radiator as it was pretty shagged..... one thing don't skimp on the fan, cause if the thing self-destructs the last thing ya want is the blades tearing through radiators, pipes etc, which apparently they can do if severely cracked.....

it only has a few signs where it is starting to crack, and i dont want it to up and leave so it will be replaced very soon,

Was my suggestion wrong? Can you not run thermo fans on a diesel and no engine fan?
