Which high detergent oil to use?

I'm putting the heads back on the 87 RR.
It was filthy inside and I will have cleaned all the bits I've taken off obviously.
I'd like to run a high detergent oil for a couple of thousand ks to clean out the rest of the motor.
Any recommendations on what oil to use?

We usually run Castrol RX Super Deisel oil for a few thousand Ks. It usually fixes noisy lifters as well. If it was real bad under the covers its prob full of sludge in the sump as well.

as Ruff says, RX-Super or Caltex Delo 400 or Mobil Delvac MX. Basically any good top shelf diesel oil.
What you can also use is
this stuff with the diesel oil. It takes quite a few thousand km's to work, so doesn't drop a whole load of crud into your oil passageways at once blocking them and stuffing the engine. It's ester based and not a hydrocarbon solvent.
A bloke in Melbourne is importing it, and uses it on a lot of customers gear (forklifts, etc). I've used it on the Tdi (which was very clean inside already) and our Patrol without ill effect.
The surprising thing is that low speed/off boost situations, the engine definately has more go, (rings perhaps sealing a little better ?) and the turbo spools a little easier/faster, (a hill off a causeway I go through every day I now climb easily in second regardless of load. Used to mostly have to go back to first unless I had a run up through the river) which I can only put down to some crud being removed from the turbo bearings. This engine has had a steady diet of Delvac 1 for the last 70 000km since I bought it with 76 000km on the odo, and it was clean when I dropped the sump back then from a steady diet of GTD/RX-Super, so
If you are interested, I can PM his phone number to you.
Rick.
