MQ Front Hub Spacer??

This thing sits inbetween the STUB AXLE, and the Swivel Hub Housing, and is held in place with the same 6 bolts that hold the disk brake backing plate in ( it sits up against the backing plate in there ).
Ive seen this in a little less than half the MQs ive had, and i have none of them in the Diffs i have spare.
Nissan Lists this Spacer as a Part, $ 45 is wat they are worth each from melbourne. Its a Plastic, polymer spacer that seem to only space the angle of the disk on the caliper.
It dont space out much else.......
I did some big damage in the front end on the way home from Kingys and after replaceing all parts, and back together noticed that the caliper wouldnt bolt up straight ( if i did the top bolt up the disk would come tight against the front of the metal part of the caliper ).I put a washer in as a quick fix on the caliper, but the tyre was still scrubbing on the edge, the only reason i noticed was that the side lugs on the swampers where vibrating at low speeds.
Turns out there was a spacer in there, and i sqaushed the bottom of it with all the pressure which changed the angle on the disk in proportion to the caliper.
Ive pulled it out and bolted all up again now its sweet.
Doesnt appear to be needed.
Am i the only one thats ever seen this spacer? i know its been in more than just my rig as my front diff has been rebiuld many times and is made up of parts all the way through MQ - MK.....
Funny thing is, it only ended up being in one side of my diff......
The side i damaged.
Anyway, in the side on pic the side next to my fingers measures 7mm Thick, and the oppisite side measures 1.5mm thick
long story short.... ANYONE ELSE EVER SEEN THESE?!?!?!
screwy
