Hi everyone, just wanted to introduce myself. Got an 86 Schuler Range Rover, with 308, 727, LT230 with ARB locker in rear running on dual fuel.

New to Rangies, i was a bit worried about the auto in the bush but gotta say it is great!!

Debut run was up Rocky track with 31" road tread and it was a walk in the park. I have driven it like i stole it to see if anything would break and touch wood it hasn't yet. It seems tougher than my old 40 series with 351 and 35's

Any way i damaged the engine a couple of weeks back so i'll probably do a bit of work to it then.

It does have a problem with the LT230, i cant shift from High range to low range with the engine running, it was like this when i bought it any ideas? The transfer is out of a manual Disco apparently installed by the RR place in Mitcham.

I look fwd to speaking to you.

Do you have the auto in neutral or park when you try changing to low range. It will not change without crunching otherwise.

Welcome aboard. You should enjoy this site, plenty of good info:)

Intersting vehicle you have. I remember that Ritters used to do those conversion as well years ago and seen one down there when I was younger with my Dad when I used to live in Melbourne

Haven't broken anyhting yet, give it time. Keep an eye on those 'twiggs' that LR call axles :bad-words:

Welcome to OL

Invest immediately in a spare rear axle set and a magnet on a 1m stick and go easy on the air locker with that 308, if you want to go over 33" tyres, budget for maxi drives.

Perhaps get some new HD axles and keep your old ones as spares

And have a ball :D

Thanks for the welcome.

I think the tranfer is stuffed as it wont change in either Park or Neutral engine must be off. Hmmm...

Any way i'm sure i'll learn alot about these things in the near future

Thanks guys.

Cheers
