A/T TYRES

Need help, no experience with typres other than I know I only got 35k out of the original A/T Bridgestones fitted to my Patrol. I'm 80% on the tar, once I get there, other wise on unsealed roads (dirt) with the occassional weekend in the bush. Thinking about BFG's 16" AT's but they need some longevity. Have an old HJ45 ute also and got 70k out of 'Overlanders' but they don't come in 16"s. Thanks.

We have BFG A/T Ko's on the wife's Volvo - if it stays on A/T's I'm going to try Cooper S/T's next time.....
Otherwise I's like to get it onto MT/R's

Cooper have a new ATR available in a 265/75R16 10ply rating. Getting really good kms out of them and they are still a very quiet tyre.

Yeah they have a heavier construction, strong case and a Spiral Nylon OverWrap which ties the steel belts together, gives the tyre better uniformity and makes them more puncture and impact damage resistant as well as increasing its ability to carry greater loads. Another advantage of the stronger case is that they are able to run a deeper tread depth which is going to gain you the extra miles and better handling.
The ride is a little bit firmer, however you can reduce the pressures on them a little bit to soften the ride. They go for around $299.... well worth it for the extra 'no expense spared' technology that goes into these tyres.
IMO...You won't be disappointed.
Cheers,
Ryano

Go for the cooper s/t or bfg at.... or for something less agressive i believe the pro-comp all terrain has an 80,000km guarrantee. Not sure on the requirement for it tho.
