Outer Limits 4x4 Board

i know that this has been talked about but i am stuffed if i can find the link to it. How many body blocks do i need for a dual cab lux, i thought that i read 12 some where but i wouldn't bet the farm on it.

either 6 or 8. I think its only 6 though

Have you guys seen those hard plastic ones?? I have some of this stuff at work that i can use (so its the right price) but do you reckon that it'll be good enough?

including tray or just the cab

you will need 8 blocks for the cab and 6 for the tray total of 14 all together

i was going to do both the cab and the tray but i am also thinking about ditching the style side and making up a flat bed.

I have enough material for only 5 but if i can get one more it might just be the cab being lifted

mate i did a 2" lift on a SC style side ute it was 6 blocks on the cab and 8 on the tray - i think.

I made the blocks, well got a mate to, just cut 50mm sections out of 50mmOD solid steel bar and drilled a 12mm hole in the centre. got 10mm OD bolts (grade 8.8 - high tensile) and the total came to $78 including the $50 cash for the mate to nick the stuf from work and cut it up etc in work time. plus the can of black kill rust.

Did it this way cause if i get done by the pigs i can get it approved (due to solid steel constrauction and 8.8 bolts - this is the accepted standard.)

These poly blocks work but will not usually be accepted by DOT. I think some states are accepting poly blocks that have been sleeved by steel both on the outside of the block and on the inside, stilll have to use grade 8.8 bolts to maintain the integtity of the sheer strength.

On Tonka's reccommendation, I used Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethelene. Got them engineered too. He said he prefferred aluminium but it was OK. (Lucky he didn't ask about crush tubes!!)

I used half 50mm and half 75mm diameter so the blocks were all the same size as the original mounts so I still have 1/2 a metre of both sizes if its any use to anyone. Just cut to size and drill out the middle (I got the holes done on a lathe cos I'm a fussy bastard)

i will back this up for a LN106 style side.

pretty sure you cant use poly in queensland.

thanks for the input, my bro is getting his zook inspected by an engineer today so i will get him to ask him about the poly blocks.
