Hi All,
New to 4WDing... but not to ute mods... and a 350ci SBC TH700 has found its way into my 1984 LN65 Dual Cab. Appears to go alright on tar and in the paddock but before I'm tempted to go bush I was wondering what could possibly go wrong with the extra power and torque? Ignoring chev/lpg cooling issues I understand that the diffs, axels and transfer case will be the weak points... Iam open to any suggestions and advice on this topic....
Catchya,
Chris

ps Too late to suggest not converting... gotta sleep in that bed now!!

Your weak point will be your axles.

I chose to go to Patrol axles but it has been a lot of work and dollars

Hilux stuff is cheep in the for sale section here so just drive it until something goes BANG then fix it.

Hilux axle are 30 spline they are stronger than ford 9" 28 spline axles
We have used Hilux axles in sprint cars with 500+ HP through them
They only stuffed up when we hit the wall or major bingles

I agree, they use diffs & axles in drag cars, Watto posted the fastest 4cyl in the world on a Hilux diff, when he had the sprite.
