rear lsd or locker

How many ppl take out the Patrol factory rear lsd and put a locker in instead? I have an 86 SWB - thinking of putting a locker on the front and not sure whether to leave the rear with lsd or put in a locker.
What are the pro's and con's?
Is it worth the extra cost?
What extra steps are needed to put in a locker (because it is lsd and not standard diff)?

There's no extra step cause you remove the diff centre the same as the front diff, and yes it is worth the cost cause no matter how good the LSD is it'll still slip.

As someone who just swapped my rear LSD for an air locker, I can say as good as the factory LSD is, a locker is a lot better. My LSD was definately still working but nowhere as good as a mates tightened one. I also miss my rear LSD in unlocked situations.

Honestly,
If u have an LSD in the rear....
Put a locker in where u have an open centre....
So u have front locker and rear LSD
rather than rear locker and open, useless front
Lockers are well worth the dosh.

Depend how much you tighten it up on how little it slips

Your right you can overshim your LSD but it puts a lot of stress on the axles when you drive around on bitumen. Almost as bad as welding the centre. Unless you have a few axles and CV's spare I don't recommend it. Depends on how much you tighten it I guess.

Nissan axles are tuff enough to handle it, 2 mates have their rears cranked up pretty tight, I have a front one that is nearly like an auto locker without the clicking. We haven't seen it not driving both wheels to some degree yet.
