Changing traytop to tub any advice/things to watch out for?

My brother has a 98 hilux traytop and just baught a second hand tub and canopy for it. He wants me to help fit it this weekend. Neither of us have done it before and I havn't had a chance to have a look at it.

Just wondering if anyone here has done it? Any parts we'll need to fit the tub and for the petrol filler, etc?

Any advice appreciated. I can't see it till saturday and don't want to spend all weekend messing around with it.

Thanks
Andrew

There shouldn't be any problems with the fuel filler, isn't it on the cab anyway? I imagine it should be pretty easy as it would sit on all the mounts and just need bolting down and hooking up the lights.

Depends if it's SC, DC or XC.

My recomendation would be to do a body lift at the same time if its intended in the future, as it's a pain in the arse if you have to disconnect it all and raise it later, especially the fuel filler hose. If a lift is in the pipeline but not being done now then i would attach with an extended filler hose and breather now so it just slides longer at the time of lift.

If no lift planned, fairly simple, 8 bolt down points i think, connect lights, fuel hoses and that should be about it. Make sure it's in line with and true to the cab before tightening it all up.

Enjoy :D :D :D

Thanks for the replies.

It's a single cab ifs. The filler is under the tray. Good idea about the bodylift. If it was mine i would've already lifted it. He had 31s on it and even they rubbed on the guard when turning so now i think he's got 30x9.5.

Tub is on and looks great. All went smoothly other than having to go find some new bolts and other little bits.

He's got a cam so i'll get him to put some pics up.

It took 3 people to lift the tray top off and 5 to lift the tub with canopy onto the back so is a lot heavier.
