Care and Feeding - Winch Rope

My new winch rope should be here next week.

Do you have to stretch it etc. the same as wire?
What's the process for winding it on and the first few uses?
Can you throw it in the washing machine if it gets dirty like a snatch strap?

Any other pearls of wisdom greatly appreciated :)

I prefer to wash mine by hand in the sink than in the machine because I've seen them come out the machines very fuzzy and losing their colour. This probably doesn't weaken them, but IIRC the UV protection of the rope is in the colouring (at least with plasma rope).

Thanks for the tip. After washing, do you feed the rope on the winch under load? Does it bind like wire if not tight on the winch?

Wind it out end to end then un twist it and spool it and away you go.
How much all up did it cost you to purchase including freight.
How did you contact them.

Thanks for the tip.

I bought the 5/16" x 100' winch rope, US$139 plus US$10 shipping. Cost me AU$197. Shipping was only US$10 as I have a mate in the US who is bringing it back for me next week. They quote shipping to AU @ US$100. Even if you shipped it to AU from US it is still cheaper than buying rope here.

How did I contact them? Using the device Bell invented :D
