G'day all, hoping someone can shed a little light on my problem. I have 98 diesel wgn went for a drive up the coast with air-con on but it switched off a few times on the way[38degs]. ON way back outside temp cooler air-con never turned off any ideas?

may have too much gas in the system. They have a high pressure cut off switch when pressure is too high. Higher temp = higher pressures. get someone to put some gauges on the system and check pressures.

Mine does the same thing. It does it when the temp gets a little bit higher so I just thought that it had a thermal cut out switch to stop the engine from getting too hot.

i,ve got 2002 gu same problem happened ,went to nissan and was told their is a temp cutout .not doing it any more since revised air actuator was fitted, engine temp stays a bit lower on hot days but now it looses a shit load of power on minimal grades

The vehicle has a cut out sensor on the bottom of the radiator if you look you can see them on either side. You will notice that the air cuts out when the temp needle goes above half way and then the air cuts back in when the needle gets back to normal for a bit.
Normal is usually about when the needle is almost touching the little thermo icon.
