Has anyone had to fix a leaky sump seal in their Fez? Just wondering if it can be done without taking the engine out as one mechanic told me it couldn't?????

I have an '86 rocky TD, & Ive had my sump off to re-weld the nut that the sump plug screws into. It had only been spot weldeded at the factory on 3 sides (great quality control there), it leaked constantly.
Took us 30 min & we had no idea what we were doing. easy as pie.
From memory we didnt evan have a replacement gasket, we used untracoper (not a cheap alternative, but effective)

Rocky's (aus) and Feroza's are two very different cars.

You could try to do it with the engine in but you have absolutly no room to work. I had a quick look when I did my clutch and rear main seal. I would recomend taking it out to do it as you'll obviously have to clean both surfaces well and I don't recon you can do it with the engine in.

no, the engine HAS to come out due to the front diff being in the way of the oil pan, theres no way to slide the oil pan out from under the rig. sorry to burst ur bubble but i tried. best bet is to take the engine out, put it on a stand and work on it that way. much easier, heaps more room, and much better lighting so you can really see whats goin on.
imho, my 2 cents worth
