Rock Slider Length

What length should my new sliders be. They will be constructd from 75x50 RHS welded to chasis accordingly. What I need to know is people's recommendations regarding the length of them. I have a single cab hilux which means that the rear of my cab finishes at least 1m from the leading edge of the rear tyre. Should I continue the sliders up to the rear tyre or should I only use them as body protection directly under the cab?

From the ones I have seen they all run from tyre to tyre on single cab lux, thats if you still have a tub on the rear.

If its a tray back, the just have them running under the doors.

Heaps of info, go to www.google.com and type in "toyota rock sliders" or similar, heap of info.

Dave did u c mine at xrcc ?? i run themfrom tyre 2 tyre on my single cab trayback 4 the simple reason that if u r sitting hard on a rock and sliding along it with a full length tyre then the truck will stay the same height and have a better chance of climbing that rock but if they finish just past the cab then wen the rock passes the end of the slider and comes up into the space behind the slider then it makes that rock even higher 4 the rear wheel 2 climb, also the rock may b big enuf 2 damage the tray or the rear of cab or even get u that stuck that u cant drive out coz this rock is jamming u in and may even make it hard 2 recover

just obvious i thought and it works :!:

considering every truck is different this is an easy question to answer, what ever lenght you think is best.

Well that is what I was thinking. :finger: But when you can't decide for yourself and you can see both sides of the story then it causes inner turmoil and none of us want that. :)

But seriously, I was going to have them full length as this seemed to have obviouls advantages. Then I held the full length up against the truck and it looks hugely long. And I thought to myself how I hadn't seen others doing this (that I could remember) and thought it was worth getting a few opinions.

Thanks for the help today guys.
