Quick question boys...a g 5 speed box out of a 4y lux...r these the ones that you would put a 5m in front of, or is the diesel box a better proposition??

W56 is 50% stronger than the G52.
R151F is 100% stronger than the G52.
Can only connect the G52/W56 to a 5M-GE bellhousing. The R151F won't fit it.
The R151F will fit a 7M-GTE bellhousing but the input shaft is too short. Marks has an adapter to fit the R151F to a W58 bellhousing (5M-GE), adds about .60" in length to the driveline.

Was told yesterday that the 5 speed behind a 2.8 has wider gears and bigger bear in it then a 5 speed from behind a 2.4.
Don`t know if its true or not but owell I have a 5 speed from a 2.8 anyway

Supposed to get up to low 30s (degrees F) today.
Guts, if you look on the data tag on the center of your firewall, or in the door jam on your 'B' column, you'll find the transmission code. It'll be G52, G54, W56, R151F, or R150F.

The G52 is the same gearbox on both petrol and diesel
If you want wider gears you want to use the R151 gearbox they are about 50% wider than the G52 gears

5M-GE or 7M-GE? Did it fit without a body lift?

1g-geu t/cam 2ltr 24valve. I had already done the b/lift prior to the engine swap. But it will fit without the b/lift on the beam axle surfs, you can sit the motor lower in the engine bay, IFS surfs need a b/lift to shut the bonnet
