I need to cut / shape the rear guards on my coily. I will be running 33" JT2's on toy diffs and rangie a-frame. I've finished the diff swap but am getting rub at the rear of the guard.

This is with a set of balding 31's. Suspension is 2"body lift, 5"suspension lift

Any suggestions on how I should cut / shape the guards?

I trimmed/tubbed mine originally. That was with standard springs, 2" body lift and 35" boggers.

The rear springs were not working properley but the tyres rubbed a little.

Or just cut the back off. :twisted:

Two things I've considered - 6"Wrangler flares and cut away the rest, reposition the fuel filler and;

Pipe n panel, very similar to the rear guards on the Sierra ute in Feb05 4wd monthly pp213-220. If I do this I'll bend and plate, then cut the existing away and slide the new guard in, leaving the existing back.

Either way I have to cover the tyres which stick 3" outside of the existing flare.

Redzook - any chance of a closeup picture of your rear guards.
