Outer Limits 4x4 Board

I live in the states and I have two Dizzy's I need to completely re-build. Lucas or Rover does not offer the complete kit. You guys down in Australia seem to be pretty resourseful and I was hoping someone somewhere could tell me where to find the parts to make these things like new again..

Any help or info would be greatly appreciated!

They are really into Distributors. They even do recondition Vacuum advances for Rovers @ about $60 AUD.

I did the tech bit on the HEI conversion and if i was where you are located i would search the juckyards for a 70's -80's Buick 350 HEI which should be a bolt in. The clearance issues (minor manifold grinding) i had were due to the taller deck height of the P76 block, rover should be fine. If you want to go the DUI route, do it, but it would be way more $ than a junkyard part. The GM HEI was produced in the milions and parts are easy to find, a lot of consumable stuff from Chev, Buick, Olds Pontiac etc interchanges, they are simple, designed for people who NEVER want to touch there vehicle maintenance wise. They rarely fail and are very siomple to overhaul. Std HEI dissy will make good spark through to 5500rpm, above that you will need to upgrade coil & leads. With Accel coil pack and 8mm leads 7000+ rpm is fine and i would be surprised if the rover motor held together above that. Advance curves are easily changed by changing centrifugal weights & springs and can be recurved to suit just about any requirement.
As a side note i have done about 10k miles since my HEI consversion and have not needed to touch it since. Plug gaps are set at .045" - .050" and it starts and runs fine LPG or petrol and economy has improved by about 15%. I can also wash the distributer with a hose while engine is running and it does not die, so the water problems of old are well and truely sorted.

Looks like a good buy, just don't forget to open the plug gaps up to .045" to .050" to make the most of the new found firepower.

Nice buy, but you could have picked one up for 10% of that price at a yard, let us know how it fits.

Are these HEI's available in AUS? if not Loanrangie any tips on what cars to look for to get the parts for this conversion.
