Outer Limits 4x4 Board

Just picked p one of those MAXI TRAK compressors from Repco, they are a big comp, and retail for $300, but got one cheap coz the hose was busted near the snaplock fitting.......$130 off and fixed it up while he was doing the invoice, should have seen his face

Q is, has anyone else had one, and do you think they are any good, fi not I will test it out and let everyone know.

yeah, I have the smaller one (37.5ltr a min), a mate has the one you bought (70ltr a min) and they have both been quite good, only needed to use mine about 6 times or so since i bought it, mates one is just a new one used once to test out the speed from a flat to road pressure and preformed quite well.

Hopefully it'll still go well when i add a tank and pressure switch etc... and fix it to the car.

Yeah the swithc is $30 and trying to find a cheap 1ol tr tank, but the one from Kmart may be the trick.

Will get a time for a 32" from flat......the other rig is still at the panel beaters but will get a 35" time when I get it back

32" tyre from dead flat (rim on the ground) to 40psi with valve in.

Seems to pump well, not as noisy as some of the smaller ones, for $170 with hose + tyre repair kit, spare valves etc and an electrical spares kit........not bad me thinks

got one, love it, i got it for $200........havent used it for a while, but it did a 31 x 10 " tyre from 20 to 34 psi in about 2 mins i think.


probably not the best compressor on the market, but it didnt have a massive price tag either

Thats right, I have a bushranger one in the GU, but was after one for the GQ, and didn't want one that would take 10min to air up a 35" tyre but don't have the moulla for a decent one

I reckon with an airtank it will be pretty good

BIG W now sell the 72Ltr/min compressors packaged a bit different, for $90.....they are a bargain! The dont come with the tyre repair kit though.

Can anyone tell me where to get a pressure switch from? As I have one of the 18 ltr Arlec Enforcer air tanks that KMART sell for $30.

Just a note on the accuracy of the tanks supplied gauge it is quite inaccurate it reads about 10-15 % over(at least mine does) so I will replace it soon.

Also, to people with the generic 72Ltr comressors BR,BW,MAX,12VG,SW,R etc, that come with the yellow or orange coiled hose.... mine blew at 125PSI by the pumps gauge, 140PSI on the tanks gauge....Lucky it blew at the end so I cut 1 1/2 inches off and had it fixed in 2 minutes. It would be worth buying a quality hose if pumping the tank up regularly.

there was a thread on here a while ago about those K-mart imitations. someone pulled one down and compared it to a pulled down repco version.

Pretty sure it was the K-Mart and the Bushranger Max-Air. Having recently bought a Max-Air I was glad I made the right decision after reading the article (with pics).

Repco, Gasweld, BOC stores etc will all have pressure switches, should be $30 to $40

I bought an ARB pressure switch for $35.
I think it operates at approx 140psi cutoff .. back on at 90psi.
haven't hooked it up as yet so not 100% sure untill I try it myself, thats just the figure on the switch...
any ideas on getting a cheap tank? something about 150mm diam max, but length no issue... or any ideas on how to make one? is it a safe idea to mig one up from tube? any paricular tube to use?

any advice greatly appreciated...

Repco sell a 10ltr comp, and am hoping to get that tank, they are getting back to me, so will let you know when I find out

The product code is KMAT18. They should be at any metro KMART in the tool section near air compressors(mine was at MT Omaney in Brissy)

Height.........30cm....(because of gauge,handle and 2 feet)

LOL Can't wait untill they reorder them based on recent sales.....could be a bit of "dead stock" hanging around in a month or two after we've all finished.

went down to KMART Castle Hill yesterday arvo found the tool, section and the Arlec stuff and hey presto.......there was none there and the usless attendent took 30min to check and came back to say he had never had them and he couldn't do an inter store search to see where one would be, so now I have to ring around and try to find one......bugger

I went over to the local Kmart here which is quite a large store by Kmart standards, it was kept in the car section, where the tool kits are... keep trying as I'm sure they will have them... (this is in Melbourne by the way)

Sold as an Air Refill Kit, gonna open the box and take a proper look tonight but it said somewhere on the box that its range is up to 125psi.
I think thats about the right amount anyways....
