No when i had the bonet off the hinges were really hard to move. I know they weigh a bit but it shouldnt feel that heavy.

WD40, but like DD said
I could explain about moments (physics) and how a stiff hinge won't matter
It's like putting a 1.5m bar on a spanner, no matter how tight it feels it will move (or break) with the leverage of the bonnet length it won't matter unless your bonnet it flexing because of the strain. In which case new hinges.
