fittin longer shocks

ive got a 4" lift on a 96 lux and need to fit bigger shocks on front. still orig. mounts and no body lift, and diff foward 1.5". dont want a body lift unless i hav to so leave that out for now. i was thinkin of cuttin out wheel arches to let longer shock hoops fit thru to engine bay and strengthenin where tha guards would be cut, but ive been told u cant do that due to da law, and no room for lower mounts on the side of diff coz of steerin stops, and want to avoid extendin bump stops to keep^travel. anyone got any ideas
