ok purely as a hypothetical thing to do to fill in time,
lets say you had a hilux, somewhere out of the 1980's models. how would you build it up?? leaning more towards the rocky sorta stuff,
would you coil it, EXO it, what sorta tyres would you run, what suspensionset-up would you use?? how would you go about it, and to make it tricky you've only got $5000 to spend

if you have $5000 for mods, i would use that plus your vehicle purchase probably the same if not a little more and buy something already built

dual transfers 1200
lockers 1200
ifs rears all round and rancho 9012's $1000
wheels and tyres $35's $1000
driveshaft mods' $600
there's $5000 well spent on a hilux

If on a limited budget I'd do Ifs rears in back, standard lux rears in front, some extended shackles, Cut your wheel guards to fit bigger wheels, a rear locker, longer shocks, dual transfers , and if any left, some 2nd hand 36 swampers on flipped rims. this should give you a start.

Coils alone would chew up most of your $ not leaving you much for anything else.

My rear coil conversion cost me around $500. Probably half of what I had already spent on previous leaf setups

Actually if you want my dream lux, then look at Ruff's old green hilux. I'm sure it has inspired many. Hell, my inspiration started with his previous dual cab and the POS. OLD SKOOL!

That doesn't include hydraulics. Just links, springs, bushes and other bracketry.
