hiluxs, v8s and engine mounts....

gday fellas broke an engine mount again this week, i got a 253 in it, and a mate told me to chain down the side that flexes the most???? apparently they do this alot in hot rods an stuff,, just wonderin if anyone does this on there fourbies???? wouldn it just transfer the pressure else where???

Buy the nolathane replacement mount.
End problem.
Or chain it down yes. Just ensure that the chain only has about 1/2 inch movement in it.
Where you bolt it down depends on which block you have

a lot of the big horsepower drag cars actually put a flat plate about 10mm thick across the front of the motor and down to the chassis, the engine can not move at all then, makes the car shake a bit due to the motor having no leeway to move, but they dont break engine mounts anymore either
go to any car show where the V8's still rule, not the 4cyl things, and if you peer under all the engine bays, you'll see one eventually guaranteed, just go for the real tuff cars first
