Just a general question, is is suitable to put the coils in the rear of my Rangie into the front, thus raising front height, and then simply replacing the rear with raised height ones to suit. Would this considerably raise overall height and by how much, or am i best to by a complete set of coils at a raised height.

When I bought my current rangie (84, 4 door), it had stock rear coils in the front and unknown lifted rears. I can't recall what the lift was. I replaced them when I fitted a winch and long ranger tank.

Also if anyone knows, are the spring rates the same in the front and back on standard coils, or are the back ones even at standard form a slightly heavier duty spring?

Front springs: free length 15.4", 7.2 coils, 133 lb/in
Rear springs: free length 16.34", 7.1 coils, 130 lb/in

From those figures, rear springs in front would give a bit less than 1" lift.

I just did this swap to my 2dr RR ute, fitted the rear springs to the front which gave appro. 2" lift and a set of standard height rears from a 4dr into the rear and now it sits pretty even.

You'll have to have a look at what is in there. The rears should be heavier and taller than the front and give a fair lift.

For aprox 40-50mm lift you can fit rear coils to front .

Don,t want to hijack , was wondering

I have stock springs all round , The back is moving nicely but the front
isn,t moving as much as i would like it to in a ramp situ ,

Car is sitting a touch lower at the front ,

Do you guys think if i put the rears in the front and front in rears it might bring it closer ?
Is currentley 870kg front - 510kg rear with driver .

What is your setup? It is strange to be lighter in the rear. What springs are in it at the moment? Also the rear static spring length is intended to be longer than the front.

The front is limitted in articulation due to the design of the links. Easiest thing to do is try fitting a set of Sam's Slotted Bushes..... when he gets around to making some.

Front radias arm bushes are the limiting factor for the front .

Sams bushes wil go a long way to aleviating this.
