Well almost done with my rebuild and thinking about cages. Need to sort it now, as some things to do with the rebuild will be dependant on what cage I go for.

I was told some comps do not allow exo cages and some comps will soon require something close to a CAMS style cage.

Anyone have any details on this or who to contact for the information.

There seem to be so many different rulings for the comps out there its hard to find a governing body that can give direction....

what's wrong with an exo cage for strength?

I would understand on a wagon style vehicle that would not have cross braces but an exo on a ute would have to be just as strong as an internal cage. Isn't it?

I heard that the worry is the body crushing in with an exo, whereas an internal stops the body from being crused in. Also they fear people will start to drive too quick with an exo as panel damage etc is less of a risk.

AFAIK the rules have just changed/changing leaving many competitors to change their cages.

The problem i was told is that they now require a centre cross brace between the driver and navi.

Speak to some of the shops like cheezy, sandy etc.

Dave.

Yeh - its a nightmare haviing justgone through it all with my Shorty GQ ute.
I suggest the following authorities:

1. Your State Dept Transport Rules so you can get it approved there,

2. CCDA - if you compete in their events mainly, and their rules refer to CAMS, which say 6 point.

3. Other specific events rules, which AFAIK nearly all refer back to point 2 nowadays.
