I have a gq 4.2 turbo diesel with aircon would the condensor on the front be stopping the airflow to the radiator if around 50% of the fins are eiter closed or bent? It starts to heat up down the highway but doesn't in traffic.

You can get a "comb" from aircon places to straighten fins back out.

thanks will give a try. will having the fins unblocked help with getting more air to the radiator?

If 50% of the air flow is being restricted obviously it is going to have a significant cooling problem. Keep in mind the air coming off the condensor is already warm/hot when your aircon is running. So not only is the flow to the rad being restricted but the area of the condensor that is flowing air will be trying to put out all of the heat out of the ac system.

Well worth the effort to pull out the radiator and hit it with the hose and also hose outwards through the condensor to, you wouldn't believe how much crap can build up between the two. It's not that hard a job either.

I sat down with a jewlers screw driver and straightened to fins on my radiator after the fan tossed a couple of clumps of mud into mine. Worked well but did take some time.

I took off the grill for a better look an noticed that the condensor was leaking a bit o f oil as well decided to get a new one. hopefully this will make an improvement.

Any airflow restriction will be detramental to the cooling system of your vehicle. The new condensor will definately help.
