I have searched and found lots on mq/mk conversion but for the gq is it as simple as buying a complete rear diff disc to disc and swaping out or is the other major factors to look at

I yanked my drum rear housing out and whacked in a rear disc housing w/ factory locker... Which I would recommend if switching from disc to drum because you aquire not only disc brakes but a rear locker at the same time. This works out to be significantly less than purchasing a standard housing and whacking in an airlocker... but others may dissagree...

I didn't play with master cylinder though yet :? whats that all aboot bazzle.

I swapped mine straight over in my 89 model and still get the front wheels to lock up first, big improvement in brakes too, don't know if I'm going to bother with the master cylinder, there doesn't seem to be any balance issues even when braking hard, more likely to have problems due to rear load sensor adjustment I suppose, which I've never found a need to play with despite dropping 200-300kg of tray & chassis off the back.

i converted my 89 to disc brakes with the factory locker. put pads and rotors on it plugged the solenoids in ran two vaccum lines to rear and have not touched it since. and i have a good pedal no mater what i am driving in or on un like the drums where put your foot on the brakes and hope they are going to work.
did not touch master cylinder
