What do people think

Ok just curious about peoples ideas, suggestions or criticisms on the following.

Currently I have a Sierra running 34" Swampers SPUA with rear leaves up front. I like the suspension setup as it is so don't want to change it. The problem I am experiencing is contact with the tyre with the headlight buckets. Now I know I can cut away bits or use a tube front that can move the headlights forward etc but I have thought about another idea.

I have always liked the look of Series 1 landrovers and my idea is to use a tub from one of these mated to my Sierras running gear. It would give me a lot more room for the tyres, easily replaced panels and a cool look. What sort of problems would i run into other than serious flak from the suzi & rover crews :D

And if you think this is a weird idea you should see some of the other crazy stuff being thrown around on our club site. Turbo charged 660cc and an auto in a Sierra anyone?

Bear in mind that series 1 panels are getting pretty rare - and so would be replacements when you bend/break anything.

Why not just fit more compact headlights (or fit them further forward) - then you can cut down the buckets :?: Or am I missing something :?

NAM, it may well take forever to get done, but it will still be completed at least a week or two before yours is done :D

NAM you are owned :finger:

now is not yet time for owning. this is all part of our discussion regarding project times.

you can finish before me greg, but mine will own yours on the trail. pfttt 660cc 3 potters are for kei cars (even with the blower). your little motorcycle engine is still gonna be 1/5th of the rover. change your plates to "kawaii". :finger:

how about fitting the headlights off a rocksta, they are the ones that look like driving lights mounted on the front bumper [the ones on the body are actually driving lights......go figure ]

This sounds like a bit of a challenge NAM, though you are correct. I doub't if i will get as far up any of the trails we go to - mainly because you would be walking since you car would not be ready yet :D

Let me know when you're finished at work because i've got a few pairs of shoes you can get started on this evening :D

man, now you got me mad.

no more trash talking. i'm just gonna concentrate on finishing my junk... or sabotaging your junk!

how much power and torque do you expect to make? how heavy is the 660?

whoa NAM, take it easy mate... i was only joking about the shoes... :)

far more likely i would let you start on the kitchen - the dirty dishes are really stacking up in there :D

I believe that we are aiming for pretty similar torque and horsepower to what already exists in the 1.3... nothing super big or heavy, just small and eligant :D

NAM if you can't take some light hearted ribbing then maybe this isn't the place to be playing. When you have your thing up and running you can trash talk away but whilst it's being built it's fair game. All tongue in cheek of course (now where's the emoticon for that  )

whoops did i come off as being pissed?
i use this for when i'm pissed: :x
this one is for fun:

all fair game indeed.

but what do you hope to gain from the 660 turbo? just weight savings? did you find one really cheap?

That's cool those emoticons can be a bit misleading sometimes, probaly how the whole war thing started. A :finger: used instead of a  and   breaks loose

a lot of horsepower in a small efi package that will bolt up to a suzuki 4 speed auto. With a nice turbo and a little bit of fiddling good for about 130 hp :evilbat: :vamp: (always wanted to use them but didn't know when)

Suzuki made a Jap only sierra, factory 660 turbo EFI, Auto, power steer (box looks like it will bolt to any sierra) and aircon all in a 1 litre narrow track chassis.
Have seen front cuts for $1000 inc box and transfer

If it feels good do it grimbo ,hehe think series 1 shortys where 80" wheelbase . but wiegh in heaps more then the zook bod.
I run 35" 34-3/4 silverstones on my 92 with a spoa ,standard front springs with a 25 ml bump stop spacer, you have to beet the bottom of the front inner neer your feet, dont rub though.
Greg we thought of that motor but where going to use it in a zook mudder, will be lighter make more power up top , dunno bout for the rocks though, but with the series 3 rockhopper and auto should be spinning good enough to be on pipe for the rocks. Can't wiat to see it ! :D
Nam where you up to with yours ? I finally finished grinding all the unwanted mounts and stuff off my rov chassis , disected a zook chas to get the proper mounts and have a floor pan for the mount pattern ,im making a little progress :( You?
