On the topic of Holdens, did you people see that jackeroo or 'Jack 8' as I think it was called. Gen 111 V8, 2 inch body lift and 35 inch claws? It is meant to be doing the car show circuit, looks pretty good. I reckon if they bought something like that out, and dumped the IFS they would sell some more. But it is Jack no more now isn't it? Haven't Izuzu canned the jackeroo?

I think the Jack/Trooper are still about. Have seen some stuff on a new one called an Ascender which is Jack sized. Not much offroad by the look/ Specs though....www.isuzu.com

Gday there Dazz!
Was only a matter of time til I turned up... Yet another Isusu forum to fizzle out and die? Sorry, I shouldn't be so pesimistic.
That Jack V8 is sweet as. I have also heard a roumer about the Jackaroo being canned. I hope that day never comes. Especially if its replaced with some US built thing that is half as capable offroad...
I still love mine though and will be sticking with it for a while yet...

Wow! Thats far worse than what I thought.
So Isuzu's canning all 4wd production. Do you know if this includes the US made Isuzus such as the Fronteras? Or is it just those manufactured in Japan...

The Isuzu Rodeo (Frontera) will still be made in the US (Subaru have taken over all of the Indiana plant), but I don't now about the Stuff in Japan and the Aussie Rodeo utes. Maybe holden should build another plant to build Jacks and Rodeos here...... Dosn't look good for us here though...
Heaven forbid I might have to buy a TOYOTA!!!!!!! AAAAAHHHHH

Dazz thats a shame if they drop the Jack, it is a very underated vehicle.
Have you tried canvasing the other forums ? Trail Talk (Isuzu) is pretty big they are big on the Amigo's (our Frontera I think).
At least you got Calmini lifts and the Tera low gears.
We have the gears now (2.85:1) but still just the good old torsion bar crank.

The Calmini front suspension kit isn't as good as they make out. and no insurance company or engineer will touch it....
I do like the swaybar set up that you are playing with. Might work a treat on the F'terra...
Haven't heard anymore on Isuzus probs. Seems like only the heavy truck side of things..
Will try the other forums for some support... Thanx Frank...

I'm still here!

Hey Dazz, Im still here...
Been away for a couple of weeks so havent been able to post (not that Ive been doing much of that anyway).
Frank, I have also heard good things about your disconnect through Deane over here. Is it adaptable to the Jackaroos? What does the diameter of the swaybar have to be? Yours are set up for 28mm aren't they?
Thanks for the praise on the Jackaroo. You know that I agree! 8)
The Teralows are still on my wishlist, but the problem is finding someone in my area who will do them... Thought about the calmini lift too but I think I'd rather just get a boldy lift.
Big red, have you got any pics of your mates Jack? Was it the new or older shape?
Cheers,
Noel

Dazz, whats the go with the Calmini lift ? The Trooper guys were going nuts about it when it was released.
Hey Westie, if you can take a pic of your front swaybar in it's mount I'll have a good look at it. Basically the unit is bored out to fit any swaybar diameter but to do all this feasibly we need a lathe which should be by the end of this month. Yeah I think Deano is happy with his, it does make a difference offroad.
Us guys should form an alliance eh what do ya wreckon
Cheers, Frank.

Big Reds mate Dave with the Jack posts on here as Givathafat. And i think they were Jungle Trekkers not Jungle Trekker 2s.

He's a mate of Givathafat I think.

Yep, Dave (Givathafat) and I know each other from the Ozzuzu group. I have seen pics of it then... I would also go for a Patrol if I was ever thinking of another vehicle...

Frank, I had a look at the swaybar today and it looks like it will be easily adaptable. Will just require some modification of the bash plate to make easy access. I will try and get some pics to you tomorrow as I will have to borrow the digi camera from work.
As for the alliance, there could be something to that but I dont think we'd get much input from our end...
Cheers,

The Calmini kit dosn't seem to improve driveshaft angle, and also has no more droop then cranking up the front bars. At least in the F'terra anyway...
Just my opinion.
And why don't we see more of them around????

Noel,
I think the Jackaroo u are guys are talking about belongs to a guy called Dave. He's got some pictures of it before it got very very big. goto
http://home.primus.com.au/dkcrook/offroad/our.htm
after this he fitted the bigger wheels, tyres and bent the sills
then wanted to put solid axle suspension up the front of it. something all us Jackaroo drives dream of doing. but he decided to buy a patrol, he said it is more partical???????? if u want to get in contact with him he belongs to the 4wd out of Brisbane Yahoo list.
cheers,
Greazy

No Worries Greazy, I am also quite partial to a bourbon or three.
Good to have you aboard... The Isuzu board population has just grown by 50%. Woohoo!
I knew there were more of us out there somewhere...
So how did you find out about this forum?
Noel
PS: Your not wrong about the SAS conversion... would be cool.
