Hi looking for some help.

I have purchsed a 1993 Rodeo with a VP 3.8 motor in it ,every thing works OK but the taco .The taco seems to run at about 10 to 15% of the actual engin revs. (The bloke I bought it from did not do the conversion and cant help ). I have been told that I need a black box to change the engine mangemnt signal to a pulse the taco will register. If any one knows if this is correct or where I can get such a item or how to build one and where to cut into the wiring I would be very gratefull.

Would also be interested in others with similar conversions as I will tidy up some of the tubing to allow better acess to the right hand side of the motor.

The tach signal from the DFI module will be different than the original Rodeo Tach signal. There should be some way to adapt it ti the Rodeo tach. Maybe Marks 4x4 may be able to give you some info.

Wouldn't the principle be the same as a ratio box for an electronic speedo? VDO make one (I have one on my Frontera) and I think TJM are selling an electronic ratio box now too. It was in 4WDmonthly a few months ago.

Thanks all
I fond one from Marks that was for a Hilux desiel to V6 conversion and with a bit of under dash work the Tacho now functions.
