hilux axle widths

from what years are the axles compatible? 80-92? 92-97?
are there any differences in width/splines theat will affect mixing and matching?

I know that ifs rear housings are 3 inches wider than the live axel models.

and surf are 30mm wider then that in the rear

Which Surf?
I've just picked up a rear surf end LN130 and it is not 30mm wider
than my 2004 ifs hilux diff housing.
It is only 10mm wider.
