Q for those that have done the 1.6 into Sierra conversion

I've used the Rocky Road Outfitters conversion kit for this so the bolt up was quite simple. couple of genereal Qs
1) What accelerator cable did you use? the sierra one is too short I'm guessin that the Vitara one works?
2) So far most of the advice I have says reuse the 1.3 starter motor, that it fits with a bit of grinding. can anyone confirm this? Lookin at where it goes and with the adapter plate I question whether it will fit at all and whether if it did if there would be enough throw.

Cheers
Mike

I think you can use a swift starter and swap the motor and just have the front housing off a serria and the rest swift. I had too grind a LOT of my 1.6 block which I did not want too doo. After I did the grind job someone told me about the swift thing.

Are we talking about a carby or EFI accelerator cable if it's carby you can use the serria one I had no probs with it. Is the engine sitting lower than the 1.3 or is it still at the same height. I dropped mine down so the engine mount was on the chassie rail.

yeah it's the 16V EFI,
I've been told that you grind off the starter itself rather than the block, in fact I was specifically warned against grinding the block! I'll have to check out the swift thing thanks!

Gday Mike,

I'm not sure which starter is on mine but as far as i can tell it's a bolt on and it's an aftermarket or remanufactured model. I'll see if i can get a part number or something off it.
