Outer Limits 4x4 Board

I was looking at my fuel tank today, when i noticed through 1 of the holes in my chassis rail, that there was grass growing. Upon closer inspection i noticed that my chassis rails were full of mud upto the middle drain/inspection holes. I then set about blasting the dirt/mud out. 20 minutes later and about 2/3 of the mud gone, i gave up.

Anybody have any good methods to clean out the chassis rail that are quicker/waste less water?

I stick the hose into every hole in the rails after every trip, its the only way to keep them clean.

wait till rust eats through the bottom and then watch it fall out.....

nah as mentioned before wash it out every trip, and if ya into the mud be prepared for ya truck to rust..... eventually anyway!

On my last 4by (86 SC hilux) welded small sockets over each hole. I then screwed in metal plugs. I also welded up the ends of the rails. This stopped any more mud/sand/crap getting in there.

I could also unscrew all the plugs & stick a hose in them to flush the rails out if needed.

I have seen attachements that fit onto gurnies to get the really hard stuff out.

The last hill that you went down and then up the other side of, should have allowed all the mud to slide out the ends of the chassis

i'm sure leaving you in that puddle shown in your avitar would have helped

all good points, but i think the mud has been building up since i got it, ive never thoughts to blast out the rails. was thinking maybe make something like the staun, to suit my exact needs, but then again, its only $40, hmm might wait a while and see if i can get it all out the next few washes, or maybe just get myself stuck in a clean fast flowing creek next time so the water flows all the way through the rails.

Get into the rails with screwdrivers, bits of bent up tie wire or coat hangers and pry the hard stuff loose. Then put on yer raincoat and go lie under it with a hose at one of those high pressure car wash joints.

Then NEXT TIME hose all the shit out when it's still wet and easier to get out.

Only other thing i can think of is maybe put 44s under it so your chassis rails are further from the muck

Check along the SIDE's of the chassis rails.. there are various holes to put your carlovers blaster thru it.. or stick a normal hose in it and just let it flow from the highest point to the lowest point of holes.

Then use a screwdriver and poke the holes underneath the chassis until no crap comes thru.. and its nice clean water.. repeat for each hole under the chassis.

Pretty much how i did mine.

yeah, i did that with the garden hose, side and bottom holes, i'll just have to attack it with a coat hanger i think

block some of the side rail holes and get a big fire hose and away we go.....

or go into turf farming!!!!! in big demand $$$$

Maybe park your rig on a big angle (either front up or rear up) and then run the garden hose from the high side down the rails.

You can use a hyundai excel or similar to get the height you need

get every hose from the hose and meet at a spot where they all reach your POS, park the car front up and start from the front jaming the hoses in everyhole as you work your way down to the bottom. Then go have a beer or 20 and thurn the car around and start fromt he back and walla all done Masojet thingamy bobys are cool

well, apart from the fact that you sound like you've already had a beer or 20 , you're on the right track me thinks, i think where i failed was not having the car with 1 end higher than the other. Might have to have another go with the car ramped up on a convenient hyundai or equivelent (you know, landcruiser etc )

Put one of those green hose with holes type sprinkler under it for an hour even, it will still get in and soften everything up

Maybe if you cut the bottom out of the chassis rails, the mud wont ever build up in there.
