had those on my car for about 10 years now. Great investment. I have only managed to put one dent in them after getting it really wedged on a rock. They are also strong enough to hi lift jack off

Is this where I say that mud rarely dents your sills.....

They won't work as well as sliders because of the checker pattern aand because the aluminium is softer than steel so it tends to grip a bit. But as sill protection from dropping onto a rock/log etc they work fine saving the sill and allowing the doors to remain usable

Wont mud get in around the edges and rust out your sills?
Was thinking of something like this for the wifes zook but the sills are allready rusty from crap sitting behind the factory plastic sill cover and I dont want to have the same problems again.

Let silicon be your friend. LOL
That sikaflex is great stuff for sealing up gaps like that. I am going to do some for mine soon I think.
cheers

A Suzuki is one ov those cars actually light enough to get away with jacking/supporting half it's weight on a sill guard like these. From a few stock ones I've seen go over, they can also support their weight on their lid rather well unlike the average Patrol or Landcruiser whose turret folds up like an accordian.
Gravity is not always your friend.

I think they look good and I'm planning to do the same with mine... Mud, water & other crap found its way past the rubber quite easily and has rusted out large sections of the sills over the years. I wish i knew about silicon to fix this problem when i bought the car new!
I can't see why rubber is any better than plate, i think plate looks better and if you really wanted you could make them removable by attaching them with fewer bolts, or make them permanent with a lot of silicon and filling in all the gaps.... Or just put drain holes in the bottom!
As far as a rocksliders go, can't you make these to attach seperately anyway?
I think whatever you need to make for your driving style then do it! Who cares what others think! Nice work Spamwell
