noticed a large crack in my exhaust manifold couple days ago.. between the 3 and 4cylinder exhaust ports that runs 3/4's around the manifold. anybody else noticed this happen to theirs?
also, i have access to a standard manifold (free) or i got a price for hurricane extractors (220 supply trade)...would it be worth spending the money or should i just go with standard manifold? i have a 2 1/2 inch free flowing exhaust already. would extarctors make 220 bucks worth of difference? whats ur oppinions on this one?

Honestly, probably not.

They really only help on older engines, where the factory manifold designs were pretty crap to begin with. Nissan seem to have always had half decent exhaust manifolds, even on their higher output sports engines, the standard manifolds flow better then what most people expect.

$220 isn't a huge amount of money, if you see this as a long term vehicle, go for it, you have to replace it anyway.

If you arn't going to keep this truck for very long, or are looking to do an engine conversion soon - just pick up a good std manifold for free/cheap and live with it.

i was looking at fitting some extractors and a new zorst to my tb42, would be interested what results you get, if you fit the extractors.

who did your 2.5 free flow exhaust ?

nice,

when you say 'free flow' exhaust

do you mean a straight through system, no muffler, no resonator ?

i mean 2.5 inch straight through, zero offset free flow muffler and no resonator...sounds very lumpy, get asked if a v8 all the time..picked up extractors will be on tomorrow

Disagree with previous comment ( Only good for old motors!)
i have a 4.5 GU and had Pacemakers fitted and a free flow Exhuast
2.5 with a muffler made by Luky for the VRX Magna (Free Flow but complying with db regs)
It made a HUGE differance from standard.

Yeah well it just goes to show how shit Mitsubishi's manifold/exhaust design is :)

Nissan are years and years ahead of them :finger: :finger:

i finished the extractor fit up yesterday...the difference isnt earth shattering but definately noticable...lower operating temps, more responsive, slightly better speed at given revs...im happy with the decision i made. snapped 2 studs while removing old manifold...cost 120 for 2 helicoils.
so yeah, if u contemplateing exhaust work, extractors and 2 1/2 inch system works. nice burble too
