4.2 harmonic balancer

When spinning should the balancer be spinning straight or is a bit of forward and backward movement ok. If not has anyone bought one are they dear ,were do you get one from and are they hard to replace?

Should be no movement other than thrust clearance which you wont see.
If its moving check the big NUT. They have been known to come loose.

Harmonic balancer/front pulley is a sliding fit on the crank. There should be no movement--other than normal crank endfloat which would only be measureable with a dial guage anyway.
BOlts holding harmonic balancer to pulley could be loose--nut could be loose--needs to be done up veeery tight--remove starter motor--lock flywheel with a screwdriver and tighten nut

IS there really any chance of that nut comming loose they are done up pretty tight.

Does any one know what size socket fits the nut as i have to go and buy one to fit i think it is about a 35mm
