Swapping GQ leaf ute body and motor to coil chassis

Hi all im in the process of getting the GQ coil chassis ready to do the swap over, i was just wondering if any of you have done this befor and if you know of any problems i may have when i do this.will all the power steering from the leaf work of the coil chassis. hope someone can help me with this

Mate, James (Jim808) has done this. His has a Clevo V8 in it though. I will tell him to get on at lunch time tomorrow and reply. ;)

I rolled my wagon and put a leaf sprung ute cab (yes there is a VERY SLIGHT DIFFERENCE apart from the rear wall) onto the wagon chassis. I can tell you that you will probably have to get a hole saw and cut a circular hole above the front shocks. Leaf srung have the recess there but it has a plate over it if you understand what I mean. I am not 100% on the steering box though but James will clear that up. It will bolt straight on thought with the hole cut above the front shocks though so don't panic.

my brother and i did one it is a piece of piss. like big Gq said u will need to cut out for the shock towers (no biggy) u will need a pitman arm from a coil sprung GQ and the coil sprung steering arms. and u need a coil sprung steering column(shaft that goes from the box to the steering wheel).
the front guards are different( there is less distances between the wheel and doors. a 31" will push hard into the leaf sprung guards)
the front grill is very different the head lights are ferther apart so the will be a fuck around to get the lights and grill right. i think that is all i will pm u my number if u won't any more help

Mate, pretty much what extra niss has said, the only other thing I could add is the brake lines may be different between leaf body and coil sprung setup eg, brake master cylinder to chassis lines don't directly match up. I'm trying to get a complete coil sprung setup to rectify this on mine.

So it would be better to use guards from a coiler? What about the grill - will all the coil stuff bolt onto the leaf radiator support panel?

i used a 88 model GQ leaf sprung on my coil chassis everything will line up except a couple of bolts on the guards no worries still fits the coil spring front grill will bolt on although headlights won't line up easy fix just do some bending to make it sit flush then drill new bolt holes and bolt head light in you will know what i mean when you come to do it :D

u will need to make mounts for the front of the gaurds and drill out holes to mount the head lights ferther out, the grill clips stright on. all so both tail shafts are different lenghts.
when i did the brake lines i had a body give to us with the chassis so we used all coil brake lines and they clipped in, no mods to master cylinder

I am wondering if the early GQ leaf cab was more MQ than GQ and maybe this is why some hassles with guards and grilles? Did the GQ leaf cabs change to a more GQ spec at some stage?

my leaf cab is a 92 its identical to my mates ute on coils im putting it on a 88 coil chassis my guards and grill are the same as his.
