need good info on steering setups/options

I've got a HJ61 Sahara with about 3 inches of lift running 32" tyres and a toughdog steering dampner. The suspension is 2-stage heavy duty springs with toughdog "Big Bore" shockies all round. ATM, the sway bar is still fitted to the front to help improve the situation on-road. I'm probably gonna remove it though.
My suspension performance is generally good. I'm not thrilled about my steering performance and I'd like to investigate options to improve it.

My mechanic is normaly quite good but this means he is very busy. He seems reluctant to delve into any options for changes with my steering. None the less, I'm not really happy with it**. I need to bone up on some knowledge in the area and I'm hoping one of you guys can provide me with a URL where I can read up on the topic.

I would also be grateful for advice.

I want to "beef it up" so it can withstand a pounding in rough terrain (which it gets it's fair share of), and stay stable on the black-top. I fully expect that even a beefed up setup will require tightening/maintanance every now and then if I'm gonna go out an punnish it (I spend a lot of time out in the Brindabella Ranges - Canberra's backyard).

When I get a chance, I'll post some pics of my front-end setup,

** There seems to be too much play in terms of "wobble". It's not extremely dangerous on the road but I don't think it's safe enough either. My mechanic told me he had "tightened" some thing up there and it definately did make a big difference. However, over time, things have reverted to too much play again.
