I think that as the sport develops in the next few years then sponsorship deals will definately happen.

I have raced bikes too, and i didnt find it all that hard to find minor sponsor's, ie oil, spark plugs, chain lube, fuel.....if you have runs on the board and you are marketable then you should be able to pick some up.
If ya know a mechanic or ya one, speak to the sales rep's from the oil companies ect who come around for visits, they are always good for freedies
.
One thing i learnt was that you dont need to win to get sponsors, just have the attention focused on ya alot, so if ya not winning then ya gotta do something to get the spectators looking at ya.
anyway thats what i have learnt so far

Product sponsorship is easy to get, getting cash is another ball game!
Racing in the australian championships i get approx $15 000 in various product plus cash.
I was supposed to be racing in the European and Italian championships this year. I had to come up with $150 000, had it all organised then it fell apart at the last minute.

at this stage i am not going to do anything seriously, maybe a couple of rides here and there thats all.
In Australia it so hard to get sponsorship you really have to fund the majority of it yourself. We would spend around $35000 to $40000 a season basically for no return! To go overseas you have to bring sponsorship into the teams to get a ride and i dont enter lotto so no go there!
