Anyone had a drama with a arb air locker binding up.
I removed the diff due the crunching sound , as if the diff was blown ,the diff checks ok .
replaced the o rings on the locker and tested the diff operation on the bench.
In the open center position with the axles fitted and holding the pinion still it feels like the diff is binding up when turning the axles.
Put in the lock mode and it works fine.
Only heard the noise when taking off hard or labouring it also when the locker was in too.
normal driving conditions ok ,even taking off gentally there was never a sound .
no metallic colour in the oil
ANYONE HAD THIS PROB BEFORE

actually mines binding up by itself too
just jacked it up to check it is unlocking and seems to be fine
just seems to bind up when turning around on concrete even wth no air line in it so my solenoid isn't leaking

dunno about binding, but i know that even with them unlocked i can get alot further than what i could with the open/lsd combo, and thats in a GU where there reknowned for a very tight lsd
the lockers just seem to very tight to me as std
dunno if that helps at all

im a bit unsure of that actually, they only just got put in a couple of weeks ago, and we were gunna put in SAE90 which is what they reccomend for normal use, but i've got a sneaking suspicion they only put the original oil back in, i really dont think they changed the oil at all, im gunna check this soon tho

Spoke to arb they said a possible broken side gear [wich apparently rare ] .

I'm taking mine out and replacing it with a lockrite
, if its not the seals its the brass hose end that shears or the locker fills the line with oil or the seals blow again or the compressor decides to take a sleep right when you want it to be awake..... and its only 3 years old (and been rebuilt twice
)

After re fitting the diff with a tighter backlash, problem has become less noticeble.
the diff had been re built with everything new from gears to locker to bearings may pay to have it checked buy the mob who built it first ,incase i missed anything that should be alterd ?
