Found a Lux today that I'm Keen to buy, but it's full time 4x4 and that isn't something i'd heard of before.

The question is, was full time 4x4 standard in a lux or is this vehicle likely to be an import?

What year model is it?

Only thing I can think of is a 1978? hilux (first of them) didn`t have free wheeling hubs. When the little stick was in 2wd the front was still turning but only free spinning and not drivien by the tail shaft.

It was a 1993 model and the transfer stick had only: H - N - 4L
and there was a button in the side of the transfer stick.

And it was a 2.8 non-turbo diesel

Its not constant 4x4, the button changes it from 2wd to 4wd and the stick changes it between high and low.
The hilux would have also had IFS front suspension and would have been either an extra cab, a SR5 dual cab or a 4 runner.

Cool, Thanks mate. That clears things up a bit.

Yes it is an extra cab.

For the 1st year or 2 of hilux`s (1978 and/or 79) they didn`t have free wheeling hubs, just like a lj50 + 80 sukis and I think TJ jeeps. They still have 2wd and 4wd in the transfer but no freewheeling hubs.
