just after some help.
my old man has goit 2 80's one is a dx with prt time 4wd setup...

the other is a turbo diesel gxl that is full time 4wd with a centre diff lock...

he wants 2 convert the gxl 2 part time 2 save $$ on fuel and maintainence.

the kit is $1200 fitted but he not gunna pay that.

is it possible 2 swap the drive flanges with some free wheeling hubs ?? by doin this will it still drive in 2wd ok or will the centre diff lock need 2 b on ???

or r we better off changing the front diffs and tcases over ???

F/wheel hubs bolt straight on, they are same as Hilux, 60 series, 75 series (all Aisin?), should be less than $75 from wreckers, from memeory brand newies aren't too expensive either.

But just doing that will only disconnect the front wheels, the axles, diff, front shaft will still be turning. Your old man needs the bush kit that fits inside the t/case to convert it to p/time operation. I thought the whole kit from Marks (with f/wheel hubs) was less than $600 or so?

I've ben chasing 80 series t/case for a while- they are $800+. Better working with what u have.

Yeah it has instructions and it's piss easy, we spent a day on it because the transfer case cracked but apart from that she was a piece of piss.
