Im thinking of tossing the mud flaps on my shorty and having the flares going the whole length of the wheel arche. After people do this do they notice that they are forever getting stone chips and crap all over there car or is the bugger all difference

Legal things first - you need mudflaps and flares (flares only if the tyres protrude outside the body line) to remain in roadworthy condition, and the requirements for length will be outlined by contacting the DOT in your state.

That out of the way, stonechips, and mud/shyte flicking up on the rig will increase. but if it's a trailrig, not so much of a concern. Plus you won't get them (mudflaps) caught on obstacles, and have them tearing out the panel mounts.

I have only flares fitted and I am about to fit mudflaps. The amount of crap on my truck after just one bog hole is annoying.

"Generally" Most regs state flares to cover to edge of tyre sidewall, mudflaps no more than 300mm from ground as wide as tyre wall.

I have flares (Wire reinforced rubber) and 6mm mudflaps front and rear.
They are held by a chain on each one that I shorten when offroad in ruts, rocks etc.

Hey Bazzle.

Could you please email me some close-up pics of your mudflaps. They look real professional.
