Exhaust Mods

Hi All,
Just thought you all might like a laugh. Went out for a drive with the Townsville Lads on friday night and after breaking another cv, yet again, i was driving home and found a rather annoying noise under the car. The zook was suffering a litle from lack of power but i didnt take too much notice. In the morning i went to check the damage and low and behold i found a little mod to the exhaust system. The tail pipe used to come out under the tail light, well now its a little modified..... the drop in performance is cause of the kink in the system.
I was just wondering where others had run their exhaust systems. Bear in mind that mine is a turbo gti engine so a 2 1/4 or 2 1/2 inch exhaust is required. The problem i have is the long ranger fuel tank. this tends to get in the way a fair bit.
I was thinking of using a straight through type muffler and drop it out to the side.
Any ideas would be excellent.
Oh and by the way does anyone have a rhs wide track cv and axle they want to get rid of?

I cut mine off just before the start of the s-bend, my exhaust was std before that. I just hated the way it sounded like a cowbell banging on the tow bar

Mines a custom 2" job... runs in all the stock positions except for the back where it goes on the other side of the shackle (compared to stock) almost into the wheel well, and exits the back on a 45 degree angle.
Doesnt interfere with tyres at all and its a little more protected because its right next to the shackle and closer to the tyre - so a lot harder to bash it...

As long as it exits behind the last passenger window, then it's legally ok.
It probably just means you can't have rear seats in the suzi ?

you may find it has to exit out the rear if its a soft top too, as the last opening window, will include the soft top

WA law states that it must enter at the REAR of the vehcile and be aimed rearwards from the car, ie: nothing that would push gasses left or right..
i have about the maximum legal outwardness of it exiting at 45degrees (pointing straight at the corner of the bumper)
This is why the stock exhaust runs across the bumper but makes a sharp turn downwards... otherwise im sure suzuki would have had it shoot straight out the side =)

i never knew that, while i was living in perth i had my truck go over the pits, convert from NSW to WA registration, and my ehaust pointed out the left hand side at 90 degrees to the rear bumper, and had no dramas,

Actually, I rather like that. Not sure how you would go getting the panel all hot though. And you might need a flex joint before it get's to that bit, as the body and chassis would move independantly of one another, causing cracking i'd say. But I likey
I had the 2" exhaust on my 1st zook exit in front of the passenger's side rear tyre. it went from the extractors, thru the cat, thru a hot dog then kicked up & over the chassis rail & out in front of the tyre. It was tucked up pretty high and I never hit it on anything. It's not 100% legal as it's supposed to exit on the driver's side (even though zooks come STOCK with the exhaust exiting on the passenger's side) but I doubt you would ever get pinged for it. I never had problems with fumes with it set up like this.

i've seen that done, and wanted to do it myself, but what happens when it heats up the area? like the diff housing and all that? what about through deep water crossings or real mud?
i was going to get the muffler put further towards the front, and have a 90* out the side above the chassis rail, and inbetween the body. exits out the side before the rear tyre.
how does your set up sound? i've heard it on a sierra (1.3), and it sounds sweet.

well it used to sound rattly because the muffler was farked, and the tailpipe was banging on the towbar, so i guess now it sounds quieter than when i bought it
as for it sounding
or whatever, i cant say im too bothered with that side of it. the less noise the better in a zook i reckon.
horses for courses.
go buy a 350hp bronco

yeah, mines quiet enough as it is. and i'm over the big blocks.
the reason why i'm wanting to move the muffler further up, if that the drive shaft flange on the rear diff rubs on the side of the muffler. at full sus compression. and then the diff also hits the pipe section over the diff when sus is compressed. maybe i should just do away with the section from the muffler back as munga has.
anyone else got pics?
