Outer Limits 4x4 Board

Am looking at installing thermos on the GQ.
Option 1 - Single 16" using/modifying the existing cowl.
Option 2 - Twin 14's (tight fit) no Cowl
Option 3 - Twin 12's fit no worries with no cowling.

Any one performed any of these Mods??
Will the fans work effeciently enough without the cowling??

Have a look at the thermo's of a AU falcon. These already come with a cowl. Might make easyier set up. Supposed to be cheap to.

If you use a cowl it makes the thermo's more efficent. It stops the air recirculating from inside the engine bay and also promotes better airflow through the fans. It's easy to make something custom. Here's a pic of the cowl I had made for my GU. Twin 16in thermo's.

Do search for thermos or AU thermos, there was a great thred around a while ago where someone had pics of them and installation, very trick looking and big fans.

Have had a look at the AU setup at $250 brand new.
They don't appear to be terribly water proof which concerns me. Don't want to take the chance of toasting the fans the first time I go swimming. Please let me know if someone has done the AU mod and had no probs.
Have seen the AU thread and others have the same concern.

The local Auto shop have what they claim to be waterproof 12" thermos for $120ea. Davies Craig look alike.
The budget will allow for the fan purchase only and as good as Toughnuts setup looks, I simply don't have the extra dollars.
How well will twin fans work without the cowl??

The thermo's are SPAL 16in puller fans and they are water/dust proof. They cost me $150 each and the shroud cost $150 as well. It really wasn't hard to make. Not running a shroud won't do too much. It won't be as efficient as having a shroud though.
