I cant give you no detail on the car themself, but there are a couple of them out there on 35's but rare. They are expensive to lift only because you have to get everything in one hit. But for what i have seen they are tuff off road when lifted.

Issue 77 or 78 of 4wd Monthly has a built up Cherokee in it. JimmyB from this board I think. Best bet is to look through the Jeep section and to look at ausjeepforum.com

why..................whats wrong with your patrol, is it sick or dying?? i know a guy that had a cherokee, it spent more time getting repaired than driven. he did use it to tow a boat, but still. oh, it was a big boat......i know nothing about them, but it was big. i agree you do need mental help
stick with the patrol

Mate has a solid axle manual diesel Cherokee and it goes very well - constantly surprised how far he goes in it. Not broken anything yet.

i'm no expert and don't know alot about them but at one stage i considered buying one and so went thru the whole investigation process. had a chat with a jeep joint down mulgrave way{i think} they have a tuff ute version that they imported which unfortunately we never got otherwise they'd have sold heaps. from what he said they had no more dramas then most other makes but the diff's especially the rear do sh*t themselves with regular frequency whether towing or not and low klm's as well. bit small for me though and not as cheap to build as a gq.
my 5c worth.

They seem to have a loyal following {but then so do Rovers} however I have found them like comparing a Valiant to a Toyota Crown.
Non servicable front wheel bearings; light ,pressed ,suspension arms;
trans breather in the bellhousing, hard to extend;stupid steering link which creates bump steer;light front and rear diffs;open knuckles, with UJs
which help create wheel hop on lock;unitary construction.
