I recently stripped all the lock mechs, cleaned, lubed and reinstalled in the mav. Central locking, so the leccy mechs got a strip and lube as well. Fairly simple job, just be meticulous with all the pins and guide plates with some oil and light grease. about 4 hours worth.
must be a common thing with the passenger side locks, ours does the same, so i just rub wax on the key and give it a few turns and that normally does the trick, i wouldnt suggest oil or grease if you do a bit of dirt work as it just clogs it up again.
The rear doors on our GQ suffers this fate from the kids jamming the button down too hard/far and it bends bits and pieces in the mechanism @ the latch. Same happens to opening mechanism when people try to lift the door off the car when opening the door......
Like others said, remove, clean, straighten (especially tab that moves at the latch when lock button is pushed, when bent it binds on the mechanism), lube with silicon based grease so the dirt doesn't stick as much, refit. Instruct passengers to be gentle with button.
