Outer Limits 4x4 Board

my mates looking at a 89 gq and it has a locker switch. i haven't seen it but i don't think its an air locker. did they come out with factory lockers? are they reliable?

Few threads here about what causes it if they dont work. Solenoid failure or wiring problems, mine was rotted wiring and took maybe 10 minutes to fix.
